An exemplary conduct at the table
At the time of eating the Tehuelche furniture consisted of leathers or pillows in which they sat cross-legged; water was stored in animal bladders; the cutlery was the hands and, although sometimes they used a knife, the meat tore it with some teeth, it is worth clarifying it, very bloody.
The image that emerges from this description is far from what we currently know as civilized. But besides sitting on the floor and eating food with their fingers, the Tehuelches never pounced to eat, nor stained the food, nor chewed in a hurry, even if they were starving. Good manners were fundamental at the table and food, obtained after many hours of hunting, a gift of nature that had to be enjoyed, but with respect.
